Well Ed and I got 4 fish, 3 bass and a walleye. Water was from 38 degrees to 40. Biggest bass was over 17" and so was the walleye which I'm sure was a male but I let it go anyway. Too close to spawn time for them. Hey, he gets one shot a year guys, gotta let him have it. It's a guy thing. My fish were caught on JJ's jigs woolybuggers. Baby bass brown and the walleye was caught on black and red.
The bucket brigade was in full force, we saw them at several places. They were keeping everything they could, some of those fish looked pretty small. They must be man bashers.

The stringer bait crowd that have thier buckets full of bait or a bucket to put their fish in....

Except for the PFBC bucket brigade... and that's when we pass the bucket of stocked trout to dump in the creek.

LOL!!!  Your so tweedy man!!!  HA HA HA!!!!

I joined the bucket brigade to put trout in the waters last opening day in NY.  I then caught my limit to take home and eat.  When I fish for trout, I like to eat them once a year, otherwise its C&R.

I also keep bait in a bucket (that I buy or catch), or a bucket to keep some fish in if I intend to eat them.

When I teach the fishing merit badge, I stress catch and release.  But if they are going to eat a fish (which they have to for the merit badge) I ask that they keep a younger, smaller fish and not a breeder.  Last year while teaching the course a young man caught a nice sized small mouth.  She was a fat pig with a belly full of eggs.  I showed him how to tell, showed him how to properly release it and told him he just "step-fathered" about 1000 new small mouth bass.  He was keen on that.

So we all have our methods and motives.  What I think that counts most is ones love of the sport, and a keen eye to keeping it naturally renewable.
Unfortunately around here, most trout streams are stocked and there are not many holdovers.  Is that due to the streams climate or over fishing?
