prep for the upcoming season
So how has everyone made out getting thier gear in order for the upcoming year. Has everyone gotten enough flies tied? Ld- did you get your spin rod finished yet? I know you have been pouring lots of jig heads.
Is anyone going to try a new fly this year or just sticking with the old standbys?
Spinning rod isn't quite done, thanks for the reminder. It's a cranking rod so no rush yet. That water has to be no more than 36 degrees, Jigging only. Just writing for my book today, seemed like a good day for it.
I've got several new jigs and flies of Daves to do some R&D on. If I can get to the river, that will start this Sunday. Of course if we catch anything I'll post some photos.
I never have enough flies. NEVER.
For whatever reason, I am having a tough time getting started this year. Not sure what that is all about...could be all the other stuff going on in my life right now. But that being said, I somehow manage to get the flyboxes stocked for the season just in time. I did get most of my trout tackle that I use regularly in good order, cleaning rods, reels, lines etc. As was mentioned in the other post....it costs too much to not take care of it!
JM
seems like your all trying to melt the ice and put us CIW's out on the the running water instead of the Hard Water.
Duffy and I will be on the open river tomorrow as soon as we clear off the ramp. Can't get into the coves but it will be nice to be on open water again. I'll try a couple of Daves new jigs and we'll see what we can do.
