Hot beads
I'm sure you all have heard about the "hot beads" used up in Alaska for Steel and salmon?
The hot bead is placed a good 12" above a bare circle hook on your fly line. When the fish "mouths" the take you haul back and set the hook.
Sound familiar?
I know a few guys who have tried it in NY and they work great...
HOWEVER! (this is a big HOWEVER!)
This method of fishing is ILLEGAL in Pee-Aye!
But why Dpiscator?
It's because the circle hook penetrates the OUTSIDE of the fishes mouth. (actually not hurting the fish as much as creating a big hole in it's maw... but anyways)
The PFBC has deemed this "snagging" since the inside of the fishes mouth doesn't receive the hook set.
I know, I know... sometimes the PFBC befuddles me with their almighty holy wisdom!
BTW.... the "troutbeads.com" people are a marketing genius. All the trout beads are nothing but "Pony Beads" sold at craft stores.

7mm Pony Beads (at A.C. Moore website)
7mm "Egg Heads" product (pic taken from troutbeads.com)
yep, exactly the same style of bead. so you can go to A.C. Moore and buy 500 pony beads for $2.99 while the trout bead ninnies sell them 25 for $2.99
