So what's the deal?

So what's the deal?  We have a good site.  We try and post relevant material almost daily, it's unique, creative, albeit sometimes tongue-in-cheek.

We have a really good mix of anglers in many sub-categories of fishing - Spin, bait, ice, fly for troots, bass, pike, panfish.....

Why no traffic?

Why a lack of members when other sites explode with people/posters?

Are we limiting ourselves?

I think we cover a lot of territory from the Finger Lakes all the way down to the Southern Central portions of PA... and sometimes beyond the NY/PA area.

Any thoughts?

When we had an idea exchange about this a while back, there were some great viewpoints brought up.....and got me to thinking.:

1.  I think we have some great members/posters here, but I think in some cases, they check in for information, get what they do/don't need and move on.  I say this because when I think about how many fishing websites I visit regularly, we may be in some cases, a place to check conditions for a particular piece of water.

2.  Is it time to rethink some of the background?  I really like and appreciate the Sopranos type photo of us, but as someone else mentioned, could it be keeping people from wanting to interact?  (Well, do we really look that mean????)

3.  Does the amount of traffic on this website reflect the size of the population of the area we try to cover?  The same type think happened to me when I was a TU Chapter president.  We didn't have many members, but it was a fair sampling of who lived in the area.  The NC part of Pa,. is a destination, and maybe we have an opportunity to make sure that our site reflects information you would want if you were going there as well as living there?

4.  I hope that some of our posts have not kept people from wanting to respond.  I do know that unlike other websites, we don't have any personal attacks of people going on, and we are as upfront and friendly as any site, anywhere.  Maybe that work just isn't out......

OK, all of this is just my best guess at what we could think about to build membership.  Of course I am on my 4th cup of coffee, so I might just be a little wound up......

1. I had the same thoughts.

2.  I too like the Sopranos "style".  But I'd be willing to change to a "softer" look if needed.  However, any member who has been on our site more than once should know that that pic in totally in jest!  Isn't imitation the highest form of flattery?

3.  I know that we are quite limited on members outside of the BradCo, Tioga (PA & NY) area.  I need to start heading westbound more to be able to post better info on the Potter and Warren side of the things.  I tend to migrate South, SE, and Eastbound when I fish outside of the BradCo area. (I guess I follow the flow of the creeks)

4.  Perhaps my tongue-in-cheek posts are to ranty?  I'll work on my rage!

I'm on my 4th cup of decaf...  I miss getting wound up by caffine!
