Who's up for some trout fishing in February?

Shall we do a Spring Creek Outing?

Little Lehigh in Allentown?

Cabela's  (Hamburg, PA) and then Yuengling Tour in Pottsville?

What's everyone want to do?

I need to get some marching orders...

Oh, and I'll bring the trophy wherever we land for an outing!!

The bobblehead needs a name?  Any suggestions?   (Anything but Donny, Lefty, or Barry...  mm'kay!)

If not doing a show for a sponsor, count me in. After all I still got all those flies you tied for me. Before we go I'll need a couple of 3/32 PTJM jigs as a back up

No prob with those PT's.  I'm making a bunch to bring down for the Bloomsburg Show.  Do you have a preference on the outing?

LL?  SC?  Cabela's?

I'd rather fish than spend money so for me it would be LL or SC

I have some southern travel coming up for work, but I would be game for Spring Creek if the rest wanted to fish it again........
As for the trophy, I will have to give the name some thought..............

Depends on when? I'm game for later in the month, gotta learn to flyfish and Dave has offered his expertise, Ice fishing trip in the early part, the bobble head should be named Jetster, but then again nobody would want it,lmao.

Careful Duffy...Dave gave me a fly fishing lesson in November.  Now I've got a new fly rod and I'm using words like Wooly Bugger and playing with a bobbin.   I'm still not sure just exactly how it all happened!

I gotta say though, Dave is The Man! He had me casting in an hour.  Then the second time we met up, I caught a nice rainbow using just what he had taught me in the first lesson.  So, if you are going to learn...learn from Dave.  Let me know how it goes.

Todd...  you drank the kool-aid!!  LOL!  Addicting isn't it?

Duffy...   if you want a lesson just give me a call.  We can find one of those warmer (is there such a thing now?) days and practice some casting.  The snow will just be like the slick surface tension of the water!

or you can just get a lesson if you come down with us to Spring Creek....   between myself, JM, Lance, and Todd we can get you casting like a pro.

Lance did really well on Spring Creek.  He knows how to roll cast for those trouts!!!

(that was tough casting with that chain link fence right behind us)

No worries Duffy... you can use your spin rod on Spring Creek if the whippy rod gets too frustrating!

Yeah your NC bound aren't you?   If you get a little time off down there... Asheville has some good trouty goodness!

Besides...  I'll be coming down through there on vacation.  You will have to give me your location!  I'm sure there is a Waffle House nearby!

Mmmmmm....  grits and waffles!

I'll be there tonight and Duffy you can borrow my little 5wt with the auto reel if you want. That would have been handy against that chain link fence.

Duffy that's a good rod and reel that Lance has... you would like it!  (Hell, I LIKE IT!)

I won't know for certain until next week....   but 2/7/10 (Sunday) looks like an open date for me to venture down to Spring Creek.

Does that date jive with the rest of you folks?

That's fine with me, I can drive again, we can split the gas like last time. I can take 4 easily in the Pimpmobile.

Mighty generous of you Lance.  I know Tommy G. is on board.  (you might want to confirm with him tonight at the NBSA meeting?)

I only have one bump in the road....

I just have to clear my work schedule for 2/7 and find someone to cover for me, but I think I can easily do that prior to our outing day!

I will look at the travel schedule today, but I am fairly certain I will be on the road on my way to Raleigh, NC.  Not sure how many days I will be there, I am planning on 4, but it could turn to more if I need to get the work down there that I need.  I will have a pretty good idea by this Friday.  I am going to Harrisburg next week as well, and if boredom sets in I may head to Bass Pro Shop some evening........

And yes, there is a Waffle House on every corner in North Carolina....or so it seems.

I've got to check with the boss before I can give a firm answer for the 7th.  What kind of flies should I attempt to tie up? Kool Aid GOOOD! Must have more!!!

TCarr:  Check with the boss... you missed the last one!  You gotta make this one!  If you want to learn the flies, we need to schedule another tying session
You need nymphs, scuds, streamers, and soft-hackles.  I can teach you all 3 as long as you still remember the basic skills I showed you on Sunday.

OMG?  What?  JM... say it ain't so!

Ahhhhhhhh......JM you can't make it??   It's not an outing without the Godfather!!

Can we really do a DFP outing without our Skipper???!!!???

I have gotten the okay from the boss.  I am in for the trip.  LD if you have the space, Zelda and I could use a ride, please.

Dpiscator- I've been practicing about an hour or two day.  I did more of the Buggers and Weenies.  I also did a couple supersized March Browns.  I'm going to hit Ben Franlin and K-Mart Tomorrow for scud hooks, wire, head cement and what ever else I can think of...

March Brown wets?  or March Brown dries?

Your not going to find scud hooks or head cement at K-Mart and Ben Franklin.   If you want scud hooks....    I have a lot in #12, 14, and 16.
I can show you how to bend your hooks into that emerger/scud "look" that you want.

If you want....   I'll take you down to E. Hille's Flyshop or to the Gander in Williamsport.

As for head cement...  all you need is a bottle of clear Sally Hanson's Hard-as-nails polish and black Sally Hanson's Hard-as-Nail polish.  That you can pick up at CVS.  (I know that they sell both the clear and the black).   Sally Hanson's Hard-As-Nails works the best...   some of the other brands, not so much.

However, Ben Franklin has epoxy, chenille, model paints, and quite a good selection of feathers!!  They have marabou, turkey flats in a lot of colors, and a bag of guinea hen feathers for $1.79 that look better than what you get from Wapsi Fly Supply.  Plus an excellent selection of foam sheets to make poppers, gurglers, and sliders.

I get outta work and will be home at around 4pm.  I'll meet you at Ben Franklins if you want a little help picking out stuff?
