Dear Mr. Beaver,
Congratulations! Spring Ridge Club was selected by an independent panel of judges as a finalist in the Investing in Nature program in the Ecotourism category.
Selecting award finalists was a difficult task for our blue-ribbon panel of judges. It is an honor of which to be proud. There was a robust field of nominees from across Pennsylvania with many excellent conservation initiatives to improve the bottom line and help create a more sustainable planet.
The Nature Conservancy is proud to recognize many conservation-minded companies operating in Pennsylvania, and pleased to award Spring Ridge Club as a finalist in the 2009 Investing in Nature program. Enclosed you will find your certificate of recognition and a copy of the press release that names the winners and finalists. Thank you again for participating and for your commitment to the environment.
Sincerely,
Teresa Howell Saxton
Donor Relations Manager
And from the newsletter, Cathy Beck on a private Lake Erie trib.
It got fixed though:
I will be writing my hate letter forthwith........

I feel like sending a flaming bag of dog poo. I just might go to the FF Show in NJ just to spit on Cathy.
Is this a respectable award from a respectable group for a respectable cause? Or is it just made up from their inside members and it doesn't mean a thing.
Is it worth getting riled up about? I don't know these people. Just asking.
I emailed the organization last night to inquire about the award and if in fact Donnie had been nominated. The fact that the person's title who sent the letter is the "Donor Relations Manager" it would seem that it is yet another angle the Beav is working. However, I am interested to hear what the Nature Conservancy has to say....if anything. Amazing
JM
Well, I got an email response from the Nature Conservancyregarding this matter. The Spring Ridge Club had in fact been nominated for one of their awards in the "Ecotourism" category. SRC did not win. The fact that they were a runner up, a contestant or even considered is disturbing, especially from an organization that outwardly is involved with protecting habitat and green spaces for not only the wildlife that inhabits it, but for people to enjoy it as well. I think they have just made the jump to the "other side" Apparently, even enjoying green open spaces, and public rivers is becoming restricted to those only with a pocket full of money for a membership to a private fishing club. Apparently when the PFBC, the Commonwealth and the general public say no, there are always a couple organizations looking to fill their coffers that will say yes.........
I will no long support, participate or condone any activity or property acquisition that is sanctioned by the Nature Conservancy. I think that they, like Trout Unlimited has made a major mistake.....they too have put the dollar in front of their stated mission..........
JM
Agreed! But do you know of any organization that holds it's mission statement above filling the coffers? I'm hard pressed to think of any?
I think you may be right....however, as the case with TU, don't whisper sweet nothings in my ear while you lift my wallet..........
As for the Nature Conservancy...they do a really nice job with all of the flowers in the median right in front of the Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the way in to Pittsburgh.....I guess between that and Donnie Beaver, they are pretty busy as well....
I am fine with an organization wanting to raise funds....it is the life or death of an organization. But in this case, it sure feels like something underhanded........
JM
It just makes me think that all of these "conservation org's" just award people and groups by the fact they get a hefty donation. Something doesn't sit right with me. Reminds me of Congress. Oh... you gave me some re-election monies? Sure I can earmark a new project for your city with gubbermint fundage!
