You don't have to get all scientific and shit" - Mattflyguy

Matt said it best.  I must have ran that phrase through my head a million times.  I've always been hard-pressed to use that phrase to noobs in flyfishing... with confidence!!  I could think of about 20 good books on casting, several on entomology and stream tactics, a couple on salt-water, and about 40 on bass fishing.  None would do any justice compared to what Mattflyguy proclaimed almost 2 years ago.  It rings true...  timeless...   it's Matt's legacy now!

This website and this category of Flyfishing: Hiding from Snobbery fills what I perceive as a real and specific need.  This category and this website as a whole is for both the soon-to-be-fly fisherman as a starting point and for the reasonably proficient flyfisherman as a reference.  (Even quite capable flyfisherman may need a refresher read on some specialized aspect of flyfishing such as knots, the temperature preferences of SM bass, or the hatches of Kettle Creek in late June).  We have all tried to offer a balanced view of all the various elements to this subspecialty of angling.  All kinds of flyfishing from "brush brookie fishing" to Spey-Ghey casting, tackle selection, casting, flies, presentation, tactics, and a host of other subjects for all the major game fish in our beloved Twin Tiers and beyond.

This category is essentially the bare bones of flyfishing; it does not set out to tell everything.  it will provide a sensible jumping off point for a pastime that is simple in purpose, often amazing and quite wonderfully complex in execution.  Hopefully, this entire Twin Tiers Angling site not just this category of flyfishing within TTA will be a valuable introduction to the world of angling.  A sport that will give you immense pleasure, the chance to meet some wonderful people, make some new life-long friends (like I have) along the way, and more than a glimpse of some of the area's most beautiful places to fish through our posts and through some great outings with uber-cool anglers like LD, JMflyfisher, TCarr, GTN, Mattflyguy, GTN007, Saveum, and countless others who are members of the Dirtbag Flyfishing Posse.  Enjoy the journey.  We all have!
