Sweet Arrow Lake located NE of Pinegrove in Schuylkill county
(Original Post by boatnik13 of Huntingtons Lake Structure Maps in our Mad Skillz Department)
Sweet Arrow lake located NE of Pinegrove in Schuylkill county. About 60 acres in size and owned / controlled by the county not the "state" with its main feed the little swatara creek. This is a electric power and no power lake for you boaters. It has one ramp and its not really a low draft or a moderate draft ramp but some place in between. The lot holds about 20 trailers like Tuscarora lake. This lake averages 12' with its deepest about 18' or so.
This lakes upper 5th is shallow and host to vegetation and brush with its head waters. A few tributaries are found on this lake with two being active as fish attractors.
In 2006-2008 this lake was rebuilt structure wise. After a series of draw downs and one being a major a few years ago, left some fish in the lake but about 90% removel was made.
Today we have new structure such as fish cribs, rubble strips, manmade flats near the dam, wood posts, drop offs, and new fish stockings of trout, bass and cats. We have seen some nice left over musky skirting the surface last year ( 2008 ).
I'm a little disapointed in the water quality /clairity. Why? This used to be Sweet Arrow drinking water owned and my secchi disk reads only 15" in summer yet the headwaters are clear. I don't know why the water is that off color.
I believe this lake will be hot by next summer as the panfish of today multiply. Some big crappie in here as well as other stocked and unstocked holdover fish from the past.
This lake is a cold/warm water fishery.
A baitshop is located accross from the launch but wierd hours!
We have made a structure map of this lake and some more posts will be added but no other structure items in the future. We found "NO" restricted areas and the only caution is the pipe at the main launch that extends out 50' and can damage a prop.
The houses on the South bank have no controll on the lake land and its docks or should we say nothing is privately owned at so many feet up the bank and all the water is fair game. ( Fishing that is )www.hlsmaps.com
