Fish Porn for May 2009
Caught this rainbow this morning 22 May 2009. It came out of a small stream that has loads of native brook trout in it. To the best of my knowledge and after talking to the local fish warden and others this stream hasn't had any stocked fish put in it for around 25 years. I believe that this is as close to a native rainbow that one can get in Pa. I put it back after the pictures were taken, but just had to get a picture of it as it is one of the few I have seen in Pa that have the nice red stripe down its side and one its cheek. I forgot to add that this was taken on a fly, I believe an Elk Hair Caddis, and the pole is one that I built myself, but cant take credit for the fly, just one it the box when I opened it up this morning and fell out.

Thats awesome. Good to hear we may have some fish species surviving without the assistance of stocking.
Great Job!! THUMBS UP!!

Congrats!

Greedy! LOL!!!
Sorry can't give up the name quite yet, I am going to fish another one today and see what it turns out, I will let you know that the lake it feeds produced the State Record Crappie a few years back.
Yes. The clue helped me. I know that creek. It's not stocked and it's not very big either. Don't worry your secret is safe with me.

It rained Sun Morn so that means worms, not much room on these creeks for a fly rod, well at least not way up where I caught these.
No heres pictures from yesterdays trip, 2 different brookies, each one from a different creek. Each about 8 inches long. The one on the right sure looked like an older fish, starting to get a hook jaw.
Oh Yeah! Nice brookies. I hit the Schrader Creek today. Found a nice cold spring and about 10 trout stacked up about 6 feet behind the spring outcropping. Made a mental note of the spot. Will hit it soon! But cover my tracks well and go there alone. I don't need to see them get yanked out for a spot in someone's freezer.
Went up this morning right before work, caught a brookie the size of the ones pictured above, well a little bigger and a lot fatter, and I used the fly rod on this one, forgot my camera so no picture. I sure hope no one else hits these creeks and puts the fish in thier freezer, I sure have fun catching them. Lots of rain today so I guess tommorow its time to use the spin pole and some good ole white worms.
I think I might pack my rods and gear in the back of the car "unbeknownenst" to the wife and make my way to the Schrader in the morning.
LOL..... I need some pleasure in life.... its been too much of a drag lately.
Bad news, havne't caught either of the 2 rainbows that were there earilier, rumor has it that someone caught them and cut them up for catfish bait, and the rumor comes from a pretty good source, there are still smaller brookies there but not the bigger ones, they were also supposed to have the same fate as the rainbows.
