A good friend of mine just gave me one of his rods he doesn't use any more. It is a Power Matrix 10 9 ft 4 wt. Does any one here know about these rods and how they are. I have never owned a orvis rod. He gave it to me because he is 85 and wanted to give me some of his gear before he might not be around. None of his son's or family like flyfishing. This guy is one of my best friends. He is a animal can fish all day walk a stream and cover water like he is a young man. We have had some great days on the water together.
Lets get the old man on the river, TTA DFP style before he bows out.

It's roughly a $350-475 dollar fly rod depending on where and when he bought it. Is it 2 piece or 4 piece? It should feature a woven graphite reel insert, and anodized aluminum hardware. It has the thermoplastic-enriched thermoset-resin just like the Orvis newer T3's. You got yourself a helluva rod! Enjoy it!
It is a 4 piece. I have'nt cast it yet just waved it a little. He gave the rod to me tonight and told me that he has prostate cancer. I told him I wouldn't take the rod and he insisted. He said his doctor told him he would beat it(cancer) and would be back fishing. His wife doesn't drive so I told them that anything you need let me know. His family doesn't live around here.
wow. a 4 piece.. well, that makes it closer to the $475 price tag. Enjoy it. He gave it to you to fish with it... not display it. Once you cast it... ahhhh dreamy!

Your friend gave you a valuable fly rod.......I hope you get the chance to fish it with him! What a legacy he has created between the two of you. I will have a good thought for your friend and that he is able to beat his cancer.
