Seth's Flyfishing Adventure!
Ahh yes the beloved wooly bugger. Nice choice...that was the first fly I tied as well.
Dave is a great teacher. Patient and took me through two flies step by step. He also lent me a traveling vise and a bobber. So now I am going to take them with me to the Mall Show tonight at Arnott Mall (we'll be there till 2pm if you wanna come find me!) and tie some flys while the boys tie knots!!
Thanks Dave!!!
The second fly we tied together.
You are well on your way Seth! Great start to a cool hobby..........
JM
I had him use a rather large hook to get the feel for it, so my hen hackle wasn't large enough to palmer the bugger properly. I only have medium sized saddles since I never really tie a bugger on a 2/0 hook. LOL! But, he caught on to the techniques very quickly and I think after about 10 more buggers... You won't tell the difference between his work and Dan Bailey's!
Thanks for the nice words.
I left those hooks on your desk. So when I got to the mall (THEY HAVE WI-FI!!!) I got all the gear out and then realized I didn't have any hooks. I found a tiny one in the travel vise you left me so I just screwed around and made an ugly little thing.
Need another lesson, I think I am forgetting something. I will post a pic when I get home.
Seth you can use any old hook.... like the ones you have to throw bait and stuff. If they have any barbs on the shank, just file it down.
Is that a match tied in there? Haha that should be the dirtbag pattern right there.
LOL!!! No, I wouldn't keep anything that ugly, let alone take a picture of it!!!
Somone should try that fly for shits and giggles... I bet a somthing might hit it... Then take a pic of it hanging out of a mouth!! Then sell the pattern as the "dirtbag fly"
