Bic Mark*It 36 pack, Walmart $12.

This is the best deal I've found on markers for fly tying yet.  The colors are great for fly tiers because there are multiple shades of brown/tan and also light blues and light greens, some pink and sand colors.  They are permanent and fine point.  I tested multiple colors on a swatch of craft fur and soaked it in tap water for 2 days and poured salt in the water and let it soak for 3 days -  no bleeding or fading.  I have been tying up quite a summer bass flies lately and these markers and colors are perfect.  In my opinion they are better than prismacolor or sharpie.  Thought I'd pass it along...  Hey you Atlantic Salty Fishing Dogs...  these markers might help you get some more color out on stripers lures and flies.

No crap no seepage? The sharpie colors fade on my material after i use them for like 3 or 4 days.

'Tis true!  I did a very extensive test on them before I would use them with my Grade 1 hackles.  Just like if you use paint to color your chain eyes or to color the popper corks.  Use Testors Modeling Paints...  you know those little vials of paint.  They are the best!

I have few Grade 1 hackles that I've gotten a really good deal on.  Not many.  Flies to me are a "throw away" item that get stuck in a bush or tree limb.  I usually use the low-end shit.  If I make some classic wets for display I will use my Grade 1's.  But not for general purpose fishing use.

No I am unethical.  I trout fish all summer.  I will go when the water is coldest and or coolest( if that means early in the morning 6:00.  I haven't bass fished in probably 5 years(since I started guiding.  Just picking on you it is cool that you are tying bass fliessmile.  I am just a trout snob tweed.

Nah.  Your not a tweeder.  I don't get that vibe from ya.  I just sleep in during the summer.  I'm too lazy to get up at the ass-crack of dawn to regularly trout fish.  The suskie is 2 block from my house with plenty of mid-day bass who just beg to get their lips ripped.  Plus a few wily carp who are more spooky dem dose dam trouts!

I'm looking forward to bass on the fly more so than fishing for the zombie stocky trouts!  As soon as the Suskie gets slack enough to wade... boom!  It's bass time!

Ya i use Grade 3 hackles. If i used grade1 hackles everytime I lost a fly I would get pissed. And that would be often bc I tend to lose some when I am out. LoL
